Colonel Harland Sanders retired when he was 65 years old, he had little to show for himself, except an old Caddie roadster （敞篷小客車）, a $105 monthly pension （養(yǎng)老金） check, and a recipe （食譜） for chicken. After two years of making daily sales, five restaurant owners would sell his Fried Chicken. Still the Colonel kept on working, knowing that he had a great chicken recipe and that someday the idea would be popular.

Of course, you know how the story ends. The idea did catch on. By 1963 the Colonel had 600 restaurants across the country selling his secret recipe of Kentucky Fried Chicken.

In the same way, teachers think that children have less interest in reading and their reading ability has become weaker, because watching so much TV discourages children from using their own imaginations.
