Sometimes you just want to get away. Your older brother and his friends are constantly camped in front of the TV, your baby sister won't stay out of your room, and you want some time for yourself.

But when you get it — maybe at a friend's house for an all-weekend DVD marathon or on spring break at Disney World — you're surprised to find yourself missing the chaos(混亂) at home a bit.

What's that all about? _____1.____ _

When you're homesick, you might feel nostalgic(懷念的)for familiar things like your family, friends, pets, house, or neighborhood. Homesickness isn't only for kids. __2.___ Teens might get homesick when they leave home for the first extended period of time, like during a vacation with a friend's family.

Familiar surroundings, people, and routines provide people with a sense of security and comfort. _____3._____ Those homesick feelings are completely normal.

4. Others may feel physical symptoms, like stomachache or headache, or even become truly depressed. Most of the time, once the new surroundings and people become more familiar, feelings of homesickness go away. If you have additional stress in your life — like a divorce or a death in the family — homesickness can be more intense(強烈的).

Almost everyone has felt homesick at some time. __ 5. It means you have family and friends worth missing and a place you want to return to when your adventure away from home is over.

A. Believe it or not, you’re feeling homesick.

B. Remember that there’s a good side to homesickness, too.

C. Luckily, homesickness is usually mild and doesn’t last long.

D. Some people may only feel a little loneliness, sadness, or anxiety.

E. And you can do some things to make sure it doesn’t spoil your fun.

F. Practically everyone feels homesick from time to time, even adults.

G. In a new place, you may find yourself missing the comforts of home and loved ones.

科目:高中英語 來源:2017屆內蒙古高三上期中考英語卷(解析版) 題型:閱讀理解

Have you ever run into a careless cell phone user on the street? Perhaps they were busy talking, texting or checking updates on WeChat without looking at what was going on around them. As the number of this new “species” of human has kept rising, they have been given a new name —phubbers(低頭族).

Recently, a cartoon created by students from China Central Academy of Fine Arts put this group of people under the spotlight. In the short film, phubbers with various social identities bury themselves in their phones. A doctor plays with his cell phone while letting his patient die, a pretty woman takes selfie in front of a car accident site, and a father loses his child without knowing about it while using his mobile phone. A chain of similar events eventually leads to the destruction of the world.

Although the ending sounds overstated, the damage phubbing can bring is real.

Your health is the first to bear the effect and result of it. “Constantly bending your head to check your cell phone could damage your neck,” Guangming Daily quoted doctors as saying, “the neck is like a rope that breaks after long-term stretching.” Also, staring at cell phones for long periods of time will damage your eyesight gradually, according to the report.

But that’s not all. Being a phubber could also damage your social skills and drive you away from your friends and family. At reunions with family or friends, many people tend to stick to their cell phones while others are chatting happily with each other and this creates a strange atmosphere, Beijing Evening News reported.

It can also cost you your life. There have been lots of reports on phubbers who fell to their death, suffered accidents, and were robbed of their cell phones in broad daylight.

1.For what purpose does the author give the example of a cartoon in Para. 2?

A. To advertise the cartoon made by students.

B. To inform people of the bad effects of phubbing.

C. To indicate the world will finally be destroyed by phubbers.

D. To warn doctors against using cell phones while treating patients.

2.Which of the following is NOT a risk a phubber may have?

A. His social skills could be affected.

B. His neck and eyesight will be gradually harmed.

C. He might get separated from his friends and family.

D. He will cause the destruction of the world.

3.Which of the following may be the author’s attitude towards phubbing?

A. Supportive.B. Optimistic.C. Opposed.D. Objective.

4.What may the passage talk about next?

A. Measures to reduce the risks of phubbing.

B. People addicted to phubbing.

C. Definition of phubbing

D. Consequences of phubbing.

短文內容,從短文后的選項中選出能填入空白處的最佳選項。選項中有兩項為多余選項。

We all wish we had just a bit more time. Just think what you could do with an extra hour or two each day: you could finally stick to an exercise routine(常規), or clean the house, or write your novel, or learn the guitar and so on. 1. But I can help you find more hours in your day for the things that really matter.

1. Get Out of Bed Earlier

If you normally get up at 7:30 am, try getting up at 7:00 am. That half-hour might not sound like much, but it could be time that you use to exercise, to read that book you've been planning to finish. 2.

2. Do the Important Tasks (任務)First

Once you get to work, get the important ones done first (not the easy ones, or even the urgent(緊急的) ones). You can afford to spend at least an hour working on big, important things rather than on all those little urgent ones.

3. The urgent tasks will still get done, and you won't miss the important ones.

3. Reduce Interruptions(干擾)

If colleagues(同事) have a habit of hanging around your desk to chat, or if the phone is constantly ringing, you might find that it takes you half the day to finish a simple thing like writing a letter. Frequent interruptions don't just eat up time, they also break your concentration.

When you've got a big task to focus on, let your calls go to voicemaill(語音信箱). 4. Wearing headphones makes it less likely that people will try to start a conversation.

4. 5.

A few minutes' chatting, browsing the web, and so on, can easily turn into hours of wasted time over the course of a day. When you're working, work. If your concentration is slipping, it is better for you to go and get a glass of water, or stretch your legs a bit. And if you're facing a difficult task, try breaking it into small steps or stages so that it's easier to deal with.

A.Stay Focused on Your Work

B.Take Breaks When Necessary

C.If you have an office door, close it.

D.If you work like this, you'll usually save time.

E.Would you want me to make your day longer?

F.I can't magically make all your days 25 hours long.

G.Or simply to get your day off to a calm and organized start.
