John lives in a small village. It's Sunday today and he doesn't go to school. After breakfast his parents went to work on the farm. He watched TV for an hour and then went out to play football with his friends. It got hot and they swam in the river until suddenly it began to rain. The five children stood in an old house by the river. About forty minutes later the rain stopped , they were all hungry and went home. It was difficult (困難的) for them to walk on the maddy (泥濘的) roads. When John got home, it was five past twelve.
Mrs Turner was in the kitchen at that time. She saw her son from the window. She was busy there and couldn't go out. She called out ,“You can't come in if your feet are dirty , John.”
“My feet are clean , mummy ,”said the boy.“Only my shoes are dirty. So I can go in , I think.”
