Are you a team person? Are you at your best as part of a small ,tightly united group of devoted workers? If so ,the future may hold more for you than you think.
High technology, some said, would make teamwork a thing of the past. That’s happening in those areas of business and data processing where one person and a computer can replace a team of workers.
But, elsewhere, teamwork is very much alive. High technology has led to a new type of teamwork in a number of fields, including advertising, scientific research, engineering design, and ocean exploration.
Through computer networking, scientists, engineers, and technicians at different places—often thousands of miles apart—can work on the same project at once. They can exchange ideas, try out different designs, and test their results.
Examples? An engineering team can now design and try out a robot system, a new manufacturing process, or an entire factory—before it is built. A medical team can simulate（模擬）a dangerous operation before performing it on the patient.
Of course, computer-aided team effort doesn’t end with investigation（探究）and simulation. It now usually continues into actual design ,manufacturing, and testing. “CAD-CAM, computer-aided design and manufacture, is breaking down barriers between traditional designed manufacturing functions,” explains Dr.Prakash Rao, an engineering manager at General Electric. “Interdisciplinary（跨學科的）teams and engineers follow a product from concept（觀念） to production. Everything is interconnected like a network.”
Sometimes, a computer-aided effort can extend beyond production. A team that produces robots may use them to explore space and ocean depths. For high-technology teamwork, the future seems limitless.

Ben walked quietly. He wanted to surprise the hunter. But then, what would he do?
Suddenly he heard a bird’s wings beating the dry grass. Ben moved quickly toward the sound.
He saw a colored head ... the head of a beautiful bird. The bird did not move until Ben came close. Then it tried to fly away, but one wing was broken.
Ben lifted the bird and held it close against his body. The bird fought to escape, but soon lay quietly in Ben’s arms.

“You get off my land,” Ben told him. “Get off right now...you do not belong here!”
The man’s face got red. “Mister,” he said, “I have been hunting here all my life. I grew up here.”
“That is a thing of the past,” Ben said. “I do not know who you are and I do not care. I own this place now and I am telling you to leave. You go back through the woods and get off my land!”
“Now look, mister,” the hunter said, “be reasonable.”
The hunter raised his gun.
A cold wind blew across Ben’s face. He looked into the hunter’s gray eyes. Ben was frightened. It was not too late, he thought. He could still give the bird to the hunter and return safely home...that would end this whole ugly business.
The bird struggled weakly and made a wild, strange noise.

Stores, companies, and advertisers use psychology to increase business: they consider people’s needs for love, power, or influence, their basic values, their beliefs and opinions, etc. in their advertising and sales methods.
Psychologists often use a method called “behavior therapy(療法)” to help individuals solve their personality problems. In the same way, they can help people who feel that they have problems with money: they give them “assignments”.
